MANCHESTER, VT. — Vermont-based specialty food producer Gringo Jack’s is proud to announce that all three flavors of our Flaky Tortilla Chips are now Non-GMO verified by the Non-GMO Project. We chose to get our products Non-GMO Project Verified, because we respect people’s right to know what is in their food. We believe this verification offers the highest transparency about GMOs.
So, what are GMOs? GMOs (or “genetically modified organisms”) are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. This relatively new science creates unstable combinations of plant and animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.
Our verified products are produced in compliance with the Non-GMO Project standard—that means we must follow rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance, including segregation and traceability to prevent contamination.
Gringo Jack’s is a locally owned and operated restaurant in Manchester, VT founded in 1994. In 2012 Gringo Kitchens, LLC was formed as separate entity from the restaurant to focus on distribution through the natural, grocery and foodservice channels predominantly in Vermont and the east coast. Our principal offices are in Manchester, Vermont and our production facility is in Sunderland, Vermont.
We have passed the third-party Costco and General Manufacturing Practices audits which opens a whole new level of retailers for us and our co-packing clients. Our 4200-sq. foot facility is equipped with a bottling line and a bagging room, we are currently looking for new co-packing clients.
